Boycott of a Shop in Kadayanallur

Question:

An announcement was made in Kadayanallur, at Mubarak Masjid by Saifullah Haza, stating that people should not purchase chicken from a particular shop whose name is ‘Makkati Thurab Sha’?

Answer:

The announcement was reportedly made because the shop owner publicly spoke against Islam and spread negative statements about the religion. It was observed that he did not slaughter the chicken in halal way by uttering ‘Bismillah’; when being questioned, he responded by saying “so far, it was not slaughtered in halal way; so what? How many people died?”

What type of rude statement it is? Based on this and our investigation, that Saifulla Haja’s action was correct; the mosque administration also advised people to avoid supporting the shop.

An important rule in Islamic religion is that the meat will not be permissible, unless Bismillah is not uttered while slaughtering. If someone says, “I won’t say Bismillah’ then it won’t be permissible at all. Masjid is there to announce Islam awareness, and thus it is acceptable.

Nevertheless, the same individual makes some controversial statements online, some trash like iraiillaislam blogs to defame Islam.

He also claims that Hindus in Kerala are declining in number due to a shorter life expectancy. He points out the statistics that Hindus is 1967 to till now with their percentages in Kerala as below
1967 80%
1977 75%
1987 70%
1997 65%
2007 58%
2017 51%
2025 Below 50%

He alleged, with foolish remark that Hindus are dying at younger ages and suggested that Muslims are responsible for this demographic change.

Such claims are misleading and lack proper evidence. Life expectancy is influenced by many factors, including lifestyle, health awareness, and social habits. For example, alcohol consumption is widely available in Kerala, and Muslims generally avoid it due to religious teachings. Certain harmful habits can reduce life expectancy, but blaming an entire community for such issues is unjustified.

Instead of spreading hatred, communities should focus on improving public health, awareness, and social well-being. Islam teaches Muslims to consume food that is permissible and to avoid what is prohibited. This principle applies to Bramins too since they don’t accept meat at all, similar to dietary laws, just as other religions have their own dietary restrictions.

Just as Muslims are expected to follow their religious dietary guidelines, followers of other religions also follow their own traditions. Respecting these differences is essential for peaceful coexistence. Creating hostility based on misinformation only increases tension between communities.
